SURPRISE HONEY (8) tried hard but found one better when resuming over 1000m at Eagle Farm last start. Takes on a better field today but drops at least 7kgs after Baker's claim and the step up to 1200m is desirable. Unproven in the going which is the only niggle. NOW IS THE HOUR (3) crossed from a wide gate to lead and was only bloused near the line in a BM85 over this trip at the Gold Coast last time. J Mac will try similar tactics here from an outside alley. Fitter for two runs back and if he gets through the ground will be hard to catch. WITHOUT PARALLEL (13) did some work early doors which took its toll in a 1200m race won by Mercurial Lady at Eagle Farm three weeks ago. Draws the fence and drops a massive 8kgs on that last run. Will be prominent for a long way. BALANCE THE BOOKS (14) is two for two at Doomben and her latest effort at an unsuitably short trip was encouraging. Last start winner MERCURIAL LADY (6) is up in class but can hold the good form at just the fourth run in.
