What is Dota 2?
Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena game (MOBA for short), in which teams compete to destroy a large structure that their opponents defend. In the game, players take control of heroes, who have unique abilities to defeat enemy creeps, towers and opposition players. By defeating opponents, players earn experience and gold, which can “level up,” acquiring new abilities and items that strengthen their position within the map, ultimately helping them defeat the opposing team.
History of Dota 2
Dota 2 was released in 2013, following four years of development by Valve. It is a sequel to Defence of the Ancients (colloquially known as DOTA). Dota 2 was released for Windows, OS X, and Linux via Steam and became one of the most-played games on the platform. It’s completely free to play, although players can purchase optional cosmetic items such as skins for their heroes.
Valve has been instrumental in raising Dota 2’s profile in the Esports market, running the Dota Pro Circuit, culminating in a prestigious event called The International. Dota 2 has won several prestigious awards, including the award for best MOBA at the 2015 Global Game Awards.

Dota 2 Betting Tips & Strategies
Consider the tournament and match format - There are lots of different tournaments in professional Dota 2, many of which use unique formats. Different formats can play into the strengths and weaknesses of certain teams. For example, a best-of-3 format favours upsets more than a best-of-5 series.
Look at the latest stats - Before you bet, check the stats for each team, including map winrate, first blood and first tower percentages. You should also check player stats and comparisons between players on each team to see how they match up.
Check the current meta and adaptability - The meta has a major impact on the heroes and strategies that are most effective. Look at the pick and ban rate of each team and how adaptable they are at using different strategies.
