ASHOKA (2) was narrowly denied last start over 1200m at Ellerslie after hitting the line strongly, suggesting a win isn't far away. He is fully fit now and in an easier assignment, he can go one better. OBERON (3) returns from a four-and-a-half month break and closed off his last campaign in decent style when finishing fourth at Ellerslie over 1500m in a far tougher field than this. He is lightly raced, and he will be a lot stronger now. Hard to beat. LA DULCIN'EE (5) did not fire last time at Waipukurau after being in a good position turning for home, but her prior form suggests she may be better suited to 1200m, and she is worth another chance. Each way. ALBAROSSA (1) showed good tactical speed last start at Tauherenikau and was too strong late over 1000m. He is very versatile, and he will still be on the up with his fitness, so he can repeat the dose, especially in the same class.
