Introduction to the BLAST Premier Series

The BLAST Premier tournament series began in 2020 and currently features 6 events each year, including the Bounty Winter, Open Spring, Rivals Spring, Bounty Summer, Open Fall, and Rivals Fall tournaments. Top teams are invited based on the Valve Regional Standings, and teams can also qualify by winning the regional BLAST Rising tournaments.

BLAST Open Spring Format

18-23 March - Group Stage

Teams are split into 2 groups of 8, with a double-elimination format. Matches are played to the best of 3 games, and losing teams are dropped into the lower bracket, with a second loss resulting in elimination. 2 teams qualify from the upper bracket of each group, while 1 from each group qualifies from the lower bracket.

27-29 March - Playoffs

The playoffs use a single-elimination bracket. The group winners from the previous stage advance to the semifinals, while the remaining teams advance to the quarterfinals as either the high seeds or low seeds. All matches are played to the best of 3 games, except for the Grand Final, which is a best-of-5 series.
