The US Open is the final Grand Slam tournament on the tennis calendar and offers WTA players a chance to write their name in the history books. All of the top WTA Tour stars will descend on the States to take their chance at glory.
With so many top players looking to take home silverware, it can be hard to predict who exactly will come out on top amid the topsy-turvy action of elite tennis. Here, we’ll take a look at what you can expect, who might win the whole thing, and how to bet on tennis here at Stake Sportsbook.
Betting on WTA US Open Women's Singles
The US Open is one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments on both the WTA and ATP Tours, along with the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon. It’s played on hard courts and features five major championships: men’s singles, women’s singles, men's and women’s doubles, as well as mixed doubles.
This is a straight knockout tournament, with the winner of each match progressing through to the next round, all the way to the finals. It begins with rounds of qualifiers to determine which non-seeded players will take to the courts for the tournament proper, before the real action gets underway with the first round in eight sections with 64 players. You can find the list of players that are available for the WTA US Open outright betting here at Stake as well.
When & Where is the 2026 WTA US Open Women's Singles
The 2026 US Open will begin on August 23, with the first week consisting of the qualifying rounds. The singles first round will get underway on August 30. The final day is September 13; however, the women’s event is now typically held the day before the men’s, which will be September 12.
It is held in Queens, New York City, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. This has been the case since 1978, before which it was held at the West Side Tennis Club.
2025 Season Recap
The 2025 US Open was one to remember for tennis fans, for a whole host of reasons. First and foremost, Aryna Sabalenka, the Belarusian star of women’s tennis, claimed her second win in the Slam in a row. 2026 represents a great chance for the 27-year-old to write her name in history with a third consecutive win.
In the final, she came up against the somewhat local Amanda Anisimova from New Jersey, who, in going to the final, achieved a career best for the US Open, beating former-winner Naomi Osaka in the semis. The 24-year-old will have taken great inspiration from that performance, but will have been disappointed to have lost in the same year she also fell at the final hurdle at Wimbledon.
Perennial winner Iga Swiatek must have been one of the more disappointing performers of the tournament, failing to get past Anisimova in the quarters. It really was an impressive run to the final for the American.
Other disappointing performances were posted by the likes of 6th seed Madison Keys, who bowed out in the first round to unseeded Renata Zarazua. Jasmine Paolini didn’t make it past the third round, and Elena Rybakina was another player knocked out by an unseeded opponent, rounding off a rough year for the top 10 seeds.

There are lots of WTA 1000 and WTA 500 events to be played across the season, though, so this list will likely change. Then there are the wildcards and qualifying matches. Venus Williams was a wildcard in 2025 and, despite being 45, she will want another chance to climb closer to her sister Serena Williams’ record at the tournament.

WTA US Open Women's Singles Betting Strategies & Tips
Tennis is a difficult game to predict, and that can make it seem difficult when you are dipping into the tennis betting markets. However, there are some tips and tricks that you can make use of to give yourself a better chance of a more enjoyable experience:
Do your research: It might be tempting to simply look at a player’s WTA ranking or seeding and think that the higher they are, the more likely they are to beat those lower down. However, their head-to-head records may actually favour the underdog.
Know the surface: Different tournaments use different surfaces. For example, Roland Garros in France is a clay court, while the US Open courts are hard surfaces. Just because someone performs well on one, does not mean they will on the other.
Consider a strategy: You can take a look through our blogs and find information on a number of bankroll management strategies that you can use to keep your funds going further, such as the Kelly Criterion or Labouchere method.
Listen to experts: You may have done what you consider extensive research, checked H2H records, worked out who is a specialist for this surface, and considered your job done. However, tennis specialists who are devoted to the sport may just have some insight you missed, so take a look through our US Open picks before firming up your bet.
