The final Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year, the US Open Tennis Championships, takes place at the end of the summer, featuring the best players in the world. It is the curtain closer, and a way for elite players to end their season on a high.

Betting on ATP US Open Men's Singles

The US Open is a hard-court tennis tournament and one of the four Grand Slams, along with the Australian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon. It features five primary champions: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

Unlike competitions like the Davis Cup, where there are round-robin groups in the earlier stages, the US Open is a straight knockout tournament. That means, from the first round onwards, players must win each fixture to progress to the next round.

When & Where is the 2026 ATP US Open Men's Singles

The US Open 2026 proper will take place from August 30 to September 13. Those two weeks begin with the first round, with the men’s singles final taking place on the final day. However, qualification will begin the week prior, on August 23, where the final collection of players will book their places alongside the 32 seeds already confirmed.

The event will be hosted at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York, as it has been since 1978.

2025 Season Recap

The closer to the 2025 season saw two titans of modern tennis take part in a final that confirmed that the four Grand Slams would be shared two apiece between Janick Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. The latter emerged victorious, adding to his win at the French Open earlier in the season.

In doing so, he defeated the holder of the competition, and he managed to stop Sinner from completing a clean sweep of the Slams, as he also defeated him at Roland Garros. The young Italian will have been ruing his profligacy, as it also knocked him off the top spot in the year-end rankings.

Novak Djokovic made it to the semifinals but was beaten by the victorious Spaniard, perhaps indicating a changing of the guard. However, the Serb did also dump Taylor Fritz out of the competition at the quarterfinals stage, upsetting the American three seeding levels above him.

Elsewhere, German star Alexander Zverev was knocked out by the 24th seed Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime in the third round. Zverev has yet to match his 2020 journey to the final of this competition, and despite making the Australian Open final in 2025, it was a disappointing year for him.

Who is Playing in the 2026 ATP US Open Men's Singles?

The fact that qualification for the US Open is not confirmed until just a week before the event means that it is impossible to know exactly who will make up the list of 128 players in the singles events. Add to that the fact that there is so much tennis to be played in the season, it is hard to even determine who will make up the seeded cohort.

As it stands, the ATP rankings suggest that the following players will be attending the US Open as seeded competitors - as long as injuries and form permit - as they make up the top 10 as of January 16:

  1. Carlos Alcaraz

  2. Jannik Sinner

  3. Alexander Zverev

  4. Novak Djokovic

  5. Lorenzo Musetti

  6. Alex de Minaur

  7. Ben Shelton

  8. Félix Auger-Aliassime

  9. Taylor Fritz

  10. Alexander Bublik
