Charles Oliveira
Oliveira is another UFC legend, with an impressive career in the lightweight division. He has a professional record of 36-11, with 24 wins and 11 losses in the UFC. Just 4 of those losses came since he moved up to lightweight, and he previously held the lightweight title before losing it to Islam Makhachev in 2022. Most impressively, Oliveira has 17 submission wins in the UFC, with 71% of his wins in the promotion coming by way of submission.
Renato Moicano
Moicano is the number 10 ranked fighter in the UFC’s lightweight division, holding a professional record of 20-7-1. His last 2 fights ended in a loss, but before that he had won 4 in a row. In the UFC, he now has 12 wins and 7 losses, with 50% of his wins coming by way of submission. His 2 recent losses were against Beneil Dairush and a lightweight title fight against the current welterweight champion Islam Makhachev.
Brian Ortega
Ortega is currently unranked in the lightweight division but still holds the number 9 ranking at featherweight. In his last 5 fights, he has just 1 win and has moved up a division due to issues with weight cutting. Overall, his career record now stands at 16-5 with 1 no contest. However, he’s 8-5 in the UFC, with a lot of recent losses despite his obvious talent. Like Moicano, 50% of Ortega’s wins have been by submission.

Main Event
Holloway is now ranked 3rd in the lightweight division after beating Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier. Although he was beaten by the current lightweight champion Ilia Topuria, at featherweight, winning this fight could get him into the lightweight title picture. Holloway and Oliveira have actually fought before, way back in 2015, in the featherweight division. Since then, both have improved significantly, but both have suffered a recent KO loss to Topuria.
Oliveira is coming into this fight off the back of an impressive submission win over Mateusz Gamrot, and will be keen to avenge his 2015 loss to Holloway, which came due to a neck injury. Oliveira has more experience at lightweight and arguably has better recent wins. Despite this, Holloway is the betting favourite according to the current MMA odds.

Renato Moicano vs. Brian Ortega
The co-main event for UFC 326 is also a rematch, with Ortega beating Moicano by guillotine choke back in 2017. At that time, Ortega was on an undefeated streak in the UFC, finishing all but one of his opponents. However, he has looked far less effective in recent fights, winning just 1 in his last 5. His submission skills are his main weapon, but he struggles if he can’t take his opponent down.
Moicano is also a submission specialist in the UFC and has significantly more experience in the lightweight division since he moved up in 2020. Although he has lost his 2 most recent fights, he has shown much better form than Ortega recently. As such, we expect Moicano to be the UFC odds favourite, although Ortega could show a lot of improvements without the dangerous weight cut.
