Introduction to the Stake Ranked Series

This spring, the first episode of the Stake Ranked Series, a professional Counter-Strike 2 tournament, gets underway. This A-tier event is organised by StarLadder and sponsored by Stake, with a $100,000 prize pool up for grabs. Teams compete through two qualifying stages, with the top 8 progressing to the finals. The finals will be a LAN tournament held in Barcelona to determine the champions, with the top 2 teams also qualifying for Episode 2.

Stake Ranked Episode 1 Tournament Format

1-4 April - Finals

At the start of April, the top 2 teams from the closed qualifiers join 8 teams invited based on their VRS ranking. This offline LAN event is held in Barcelona, Spain and features a $100,000 prize pool. A double-elimination bracket is used, with all matches, including the Grand Final, played to the best of 3 games.

Qualifier Recap

The open qualifiers took place between 21 and 22 February, while the closed qualifiers were held between 4 and 8 March. FOKUS and Johnny Speeds beat 161 other teams to progress from the open qualifiers to the closed qualifiers of 16 teams. FOKUS very nearly made the playoffs, finishing 3rd-4th in the closed qualifiers, but the 2 teams that eventually made the cut and joined the 6 invited teams in the LAN finals were 9INE and Team Nemesis.
