Explaining the ESL Pro Tour in CS2

The IEM Cologne Major 2026 is a Championship tournament of the ESL Pro Tour (EPT). Every season, the best teams in the world compete in EPT events to earn points. There are EPT Masters for established teams, and EPT Challenger tournaments that offer a pathway for aspiring teams.

Winners of the EPT Championship and Masters events qualify for the ESL Grand Slam. Top teams with enough points will be crowned Grand Slam winners, the most prestigious award in professional CS2.

Team Vitality are back-to-back winners of the ESL Grand Slam, becoming the first team in the history of competitive Counter-Strike to do so. They won the season 5 Grand Slam in 2025 and followed it up with a 2026 win in Season 6 when they secured a win at IEM Rio in April.
